Oui, pourquoi?
VBN
CHALLENGE | SINGLETRACK EVOLUTION: Why?
Are there
any reasons why I shall take on that challenge? Part of the post I will publish
on this blog will address this very question. What are my motives, what does
inspire me to do it? First part: mental health and the cyclist community.
Through the
experiences of others, we can find strength and willpower in ourselves. Seeing
someone, maybe an athlete, standing tall when facing adversity can inspire us
to do the same. Sharing that experience can be a salvation at many levels.
Sharing is impossible
when alone. To participate in events such as the VBN Challenge is also to share
it with the cyclist community. It may be unconscious at time, but that sharing
is almost always present and multiply the joys of riding with others. A cyclist
cheering you to keep on going, an act of true sportsmanship or a simple smile
gets more than twice the effect when participating to such an event. At the end
of the day, after the finish line is crossed, you are no more a stranger to the
people with whom you have taken on your challenge.
I'm
conscious the impact the sport has on my mental health. Last week was the national
suicide prevention week. Like too many, I know people who have committed
suicide.
To inspire
you, I suggest you watch the following short video from Andréane
Lanthier-Nadeau. As for sharing, why not taking on the VBN Challenge?
